Jaime, sorry to be pedantic but I still am not sure of the reason.
If I did see the cloud then I must suppose it is illuminated by reflected  
light, possibly sun or moonlight beyond my horizon. 
In this case, surely I must get a lower reading.
So I have opted for the "dark" cloud obscuring effect. In your opinion, am  
I correct?
I have strong reservations about the value of any high readings in the  
presence of cloud.
